An abundance of natural beauty and outdoor activity, along with a huge variety of year-round events, an awesome live theatre, friendly people, AMAZING weather, warm winters, a great ski area (Wolf Creek), a beautiful river through the heart of downtown filled to the brim with trout-great for rafting, kayaking and tubing in late summer, the world's deepest Hot Springs, a 27-hole golf course, 2.5 million acres of San Juan National Forest hiking, biking and exploring, low taxes, almost no crime, very little homelessness, low drug issues, lower real estate prices that any other mountain community, gorgeous setting, and views in every direction.
An abundance of shopping, enough variety of dining options-we have good restaurants, we could just use more, tough to find contractors, our roads leave something (a lot) to be desired-see taxes (they are low, so infrastructure suffers).
